The SUL welcomes foreign students of different nationalities and offers them French language and culture courses at all levels through diploma courses, year-round FLE courses and intensive summer courses.
Its mission is to :
- Offer training in French as a Foreign Language, including its University Diploma (DU LCF) is a key component. Every semester, some 300 students from all over the world come to learn and discover a language and culture with an experienced and dynamic teaching team. From FLE courses courses are organized throughout the semester in Aix-en-Provence, Marseille and online, for AMU students and staff, as well as international students on Erasmus+ or individual mobility programs.
- Supporting learners of Modern Languages (French and foreign) in its Language Resource Center, the CARLAM through the provision of self-study materials and supervised tutoring and conversation activities. Several hundred students deepen their language learning every year, some earning the Language Bonus "validated by their training in AMU components.
- Offering students the opportunity to take language certifications required by students and individuals as part of their international mobility and/or professional integration.
In particular, the department organizes the taking of the CLES (Higher Education Language Certificate), the TOEIC - Listening and Reading, the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue ¹ó°ù²¹²Ôç²¹¾±²õe), the TCF (Test de Connaissance du ¹ó°ù²¹²Ôç²¹¾±²õ), and will also offer other language certifications (FLE and LVE). - Train FLE trainers seeking to perfect their didactic skills in French as a foreign language. This mission is assigned to SUPFLES.
Located in France's second largest metropolitan area, the SUL aims to meet the needs of Aix-Âé¶¹tv's components to ensure the best possible integration of students into the university's various courses and cycles (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) and into further studies in higher education.

- From downtown Aix (and the SNCF train station), take the Aixpress line A bus to the "Schuman" stop (in front of the ALLSH faculty entrance). Our Porte building (T3) is the first building on your left.

- Please note that parking is difficult around the ALLSH faculty (the university parking lot is not accessible). You can park at the (from the freeway: exit 30 or 30b "Pont de l'Arc"), then take the Aixpress bus line A.
