
University degree course in French, full-time semester courses.
PRESENTATION:
The DU LCF is a full-time course. It lasts one semester and leads to the Diplôme Universitaire de Langue et Culture ¹ó°ù²¹²Ôç²¹¾±²ões (University Diploma in French Language and Culture).
this Aix-Âé¶¹tv diploma course is aimed at all non-French-speaking adults, from complete beginners to experienced users, who hold a secondary school leaving certificate (diploma giving access to university) or any higher education diploma.
1. COURSE ORGANIZATION
- :A1 to B2+/C1 (CEFR* levels).
- 30 ECTS credits per semester.
- 18 or 20** hours of classes per week (language courses and thematic workshops, see table below).
- 18-20 students per class with groups adapted to level (initial placement test).
- Compulsory attendance.

** Students who need 20 hours per week for their course have the option of enrolling in an additional workshop.

1.3 Assessment:
The course is assessed on the basis of continuous assessment.

IMPORTANT: By law, only one copy of transcripts and diplomas may be issued. No duplicates will be issued. In addition, final grades will not be available until after the jury's deliberations (a certificate of attendance may be issued while waiting for the transcript).
2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
be at least 18 years of age;
hold a high school diploma equivalent to the baccalauréat;
not be a national of a country whose only official language is French;
have passed the written and oral test following pre-registration.
3. REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:
Pre-registration for the 1st semester and the academic year is open from April 02 to June 13, 2025.
To register, please follow these steps:
3.1 Administrative registration:
Pre-registration (from April 02 to June 13, 2025):
- Complete and sign the registration form and provide the necessary supporting documents: DU LCF 2025-2026 registration form;
- As soon as your application has been validated by the Registrar's Office: pay a non-refundable deposit of 300* euros by bank transfer, cheque or credit card (bank details);
- Receive a pre-registration certificate as soon as payment has been confirmed.
*300 euros excluding bank charges, which remain at your expense.
Registration (from August 25, 2025 and before the start of classes):
Provide the following documents to the school:
- a copy of the civil liability insurance certificate*.
- a copy of the CVEC certificate.
- payment of registration fees.
* Issued by the French insurance company insuring the accommodation. Mentioning that the covers university studies for the semester or academic year. This insurance can also be purchased on the website.
3.2 Placement tests:
The test schedule will be sent to you shortly.
- You MUST take the online written placement test, sent to you by the SUL Registrar's Office after pre-registration.
- You MUST take the oral placement test (by videoconference, with a SUL teacher).
3.3 Academic registration:
- Attend the orientation week organized by the SUL the week before the start of classes in each semester.
- Consult your level group and class (a few days before the start of classes online or on site) and choose the workshop(s) corresponding to the level indicated (see the news page for each semester's courses to find out how to proceed).
Please note : Be sure to respect the number of workshops to be chosen according to level (A1, A2, etc.).
4. CALENDAR 2025/2026:
The dates for the next academic year will be announced shortly.
As an indication, the 2024-2025 calendar was as follows:
- SEMESTER 1:
- LANGUAGE COURSES: September 16 to December 20, 2024.
- Orientation week: September 9 to 13, 2024.
- Weeks off (no classes): October 28 to November 1, 2024.
- SEMESTER 2:
- LANGUAGE COURSES: January 20 to May 2, 2025.
- Deadline for finalizing registrations: January 17, 2025.
- Orientation week: January 13 to 17, 2025.
- Weeks off (no classes): February 17 to February 22, 2025 and April 7 to April 11, 2025.
5. RATES 2025/2026:
Compulsory pre-registration fee: 300 euros.
2025-2026 rates are currently being modified and will be communicated shortly after approval by the University's governing bodies. Prior to this date, only the pre-registration fee for the DU LCF (300 euros) will be payable.
2024-2025 rates are subject to change and are as follows: €1650 per semester for individuals (groups*: €1450), €2800 per year for individuals (groups*: €2500).
* Group rates : Reduced rates for organizations (universities, agencies, companies, etc.) enrolling 10 people or more. Please contact us in advance (see e-mail address on registration form).
* Please note that for students from outside the European Union (EU) who wish to make a bank transfer, the banks directly deduct bank charges. In fact, the amount shown on the bank transfer receipt must correspond to the amount of the administrative registration fee.
NB. The above prices do not include , nor the , which are compulsory to finalize your registration and obtain your student card.
6. EXEMPTION SCHEMES:
6.1 Exemption scheme (reserved for asylum seekers or refugees):
Asylum seekers/refugees may benefit from an exemption from tuition fees, up to a limit of 10% of enrolments per semester (i.e. around 30 places), after submitting an application which will be examined by an evaluation committee.

ATTENTION: only one application session per year is organized.
A learner cannot be exempted from the registration fees at SUL for more than 2 academic years .

6.2 Specific provisions for students displaced from Ukraine:
In the context of the conflict that broke out between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, Âé¶¹tv is renewing its support for students displaced from Ukraine by opening up a dedicated admission route to the university.

6.3 DU PASSERELLE (reserved for students in exile):
Âé¶¹tv has set up the Diplôme Universitaire (DU) Passerelle aimed at people in exile (refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary and temporary protection, asylum seekers, stateless persons) wishing to reach the level of French required to enter or resume a university course in France.

6.4 Other exemptions:
Lebanese refugees have also benefited from a total exemption from university tuition fees since the start of the 2023/2024 academic year.
