Aix Marseille Université institutes: facilitators to strengthen the research-training link,
interaction with the economic and cultural world, interdisciplinarity and internationalisation around twenty or so strategic fields of research.
Their core unifying role: training a new generation of academics to meet the scientific and societal challenges of our time!
At the crossroads of research and education, our interdisciplinary institutes embody innovation within the university. Â鶹tv has made innovation a cross-cutting priority of its policy, opening up the field to all possibilities. Our institutes of research and education are the result of an interdisciplinary approach that federates the university's laboratories, faculties and schools, as well as its socio-economic partners around a strategic research thematic.
Our goal : to strengthen its international outreach.
These innovative entities promote Â鶹tv's areas of excellence, with the aim of boosting its visibility at national and international levels. They are unique in that they combine high-level teaching and research. The main challenges for the university are to generate new knowledge through interdisciplinarity, to attract international talents and to obtain external resources.

As of January 2025, Aix Marseille Université (amU) hosts 18 interdisciplinary institutes, among which 4 national award-winning programs :
2 Institutes of Convergence Science (Centuri, ILCB) and 2 Graduate schools (NeuroSchool, AMSE).
